AUDITIONS for the

LAGRANGE SYMPHONY CHORUS

August 1-3, 2010

The Inaugural Season for the LaGrange Symphony Chorus is an exciting prospect for all in the West Georgia area who love good music.  The Chorus will be performing master works of a large scale under the direction of symphony conductor, Patricio Cobos and Chorus conductor, Deborah Ogle.  Click here to see our concert season.

Those interested in auditioning must be prepared to meet the following qualifications (an accompanist will be provided):

• Perform one solo (We recommend an aria from an opera or oratorio, or an art-song in any language)
• Vocalizing to determine range and voice type
• Scales (major, minor, and chromatic)
• Matching Pitch drills
• Tonal memory drills (intervals and scale movement)
• Simple sight reading

The community singers of the LSC are volunteers from LaGrange and the surrounding area of West Georgia and East Alabama. They rehearse on Monday evenings in the Callaway Auditorium from 7:30 -10:00 pm during the LaGrange College fall and spring semesters (September to December, and February to May). The community singers are joined in rehearsals by auditioned members of the LaGrange College Chamber Choir, who also rehearse another time each week as a part of their academic schedule.

During the week preceding concerts, the chorus will usually rehearse each evening. For the first concert these rehearsals will occur from Sunday, November 28 through the dress rehearsal with orchestra on Monday, December 6 at 7:00 PM. However there will be no rehearsals on Wednesday, December 1, and Saturday, December 4

Auditions are by appointment only. To request an audition appointment, please call 706-880-8351 after July 5 and leave your name and number or e-mail lsc_auditions@lagrangesymphony.org.
